Good Movie!

Last night we watched a great comedy called Dan In Real Life. It's great when comedy is done well. Having kids makes this funnier, but I think it would be funny even if you don't have kids. For what it's worth, I wanted to post this. Leave a comment if you've seen it and let me know what you thought.

Max Tivoli

The Confessions of Max Tivoli is a book that I just finished. If you're looking for a good book, it is masterfully written with an engaging and very interesting story line.

I'm kind of particular about books and when I started reading this one, I was mildly criticizing it because of what I thought were some inconsistencies. But then I got hooked and couldn't put it down. I really liked how the author creatively used similes and metaphors, but didn't overdo it. At times, I just h…

Ticked off

Living in New England, you might as well get used to ticks. Especially in the spring and fall. When we lived in the country we'd find ticks on our clothes occasionally, in our house occasionally, and on our bodies occasionally. Our oldest son came down with Lyme disease in 2005. Half of his face was paralyzed with a red stripe down it - very weird and scary. But luckily, Lyme is not a huge problem if treated right away with a lot of antibiotics (I didn't know that before, I had only heard of…

I'll have a BLUE copper

I have to share this with you fellow Indie jewelry artisans. A wonderful Etsian EveryDogsDelight who makes jewelry and dog-related items and will be doing her grand opening of her store soon (Oct. 15th), shared this great idea with me that she saw in Bead Style Magazine.

Here's how you can give a blue patina to copper using common household ingred…

Businessperson or Artist?

Now that I've got your attention, I'll issue my caveat. I know these two roles aren't mutually exclusive, but I see a lot of indie designers that lean heavily in one way or the other.

The "businessperson" finds one or two unique ideas/product lines that sell well and appeal to a lot of people. Then they do slight variations on that theme. Their shops have a consistent look and feel and you can recognize their work. These crafters and artisans do very, very well building their businesse…

Your jewellery is beautiful. And I enjoyed reading your post about businessperson or artist. Oh, if only I had an assistant to handle the business so I could concentrate on the art!
