About Me:

When I was 5, I told my Mom that I wanted to be "an artist or a teacher." That worked out really well for me -- I am both! I teach art at a tiny parochial school in Charleston, WV, and I also make art of my own.

I am also a mother of four children, ages almost-three to 11. My husband is a science and physics teacher at another school, so school is never out for our kids! Before you say it, yes, I am exhausted ALL the time, but art is my therapy. I am very fortunate to work in a field that refreshes me when I'm feeling used-up and thrown-away.

I specialize in photography and painting, although I have been having a lot of fun with mixed-media lately. Being an art teacher, I get to try just about everything, and I'm not limited to working in just one media. I often dabble in video, installations, and fiber art, as well. I'm too ADD to stick to one thing.

When I'm not teaching, being Mom, or making art, I love attending cultural events (plays, concerts, etc...), getting outdoors, gardening (although I don't know what I'm doing, yet) and reading. I love to travel, and wish I had the time and money to travel more! I love to cook when I don't have to, and am experimenting with vegetarian recipes, now. I am a serious tea addict -- I have a little coffee maker at my desk that I use to make tea and keep my cup full. I will definitely need that caffeine fix -- I'm trying to get my master's degree!

I'm a city girl living a country life. I grew up near the (small) city of Charleston, WV, and had a pretty typical suburban childhood. I married a country boy and moved to the country where life is a lot slower. I'm just getting used to it, but I love both worlds.
