About Me:
I'm a girl living in Minneapolis with my favorite dude, Greg, and my pet pals Cricket, a Pekingese, and Pedro, a Chihuahua mix. I like to make stuff. Although I've tried many, many things, I've been making jewelry for at least 10 years. I have 2 Etsy shops. My newest shop includes jewelry, bobby pins, magnets, etc. using original digital illustrations and shrink plastic. I recently started working part-time at my HR job so I could go back to school for Web/Graphic Design. I'm a happy camper now. If someone wants to buy me a gocco printer, I would be ever so grateful.

What Etsy did for me

I harbor no delusions that I will make a living making jewelry. Really, I don't. Maybe it's because I'm not good at networking or self-promotion, maybe it's that I'm too afraid to fail, whatever. But Etsy saved my life... here's the story:

I work in Human Resources. I have a master's degree in the area, plus countless hours of seminars, courses, conferences, etc. I've been working in government for 12 years. Sometimes I feel like I'm dying a slow death. Sure, my job pays well, it's not… Continue

It has been awhile and thought I would say "Hi" Hope there isn't too much snow... I am still wearing sandals to work, not bragging just happy since I know it is coming for us as well.

Congrats on your freedom! Scary but also a nice wild, OMG I am alive feeling too, isn't it? So glad you took the plunge and went back to school... You would think all these young students who tease and shake their heads at returning folk past their 20s who are or have gone back to school would get to hint to get good grades and not to mess up their time their while they are young... but then wisdom would be wasted on the youth and there would be no one to have those wild parties!
btw... aren't we all dying a slow death? Well, some slower than others if you really think on it... and money doesn't buy happines.. just peace of mind financially. Just ask all the rich ones in rehab!

Welcome to Indiepublic! I was touched by your blog entry about Etsy, btw; I also left a job to focus full time on blogging and art. It's been a rough road, but to be frank I've never been happier. It's important to have people around you who support you, and it sounds like you do. Of course, you've now got the backing of Indiepublic too, so on behalf of the community, best of luck on your new path. You have beautiful jewelry, btw! =)
