About Me:
I am from New Zealand and have been living in England on and off for the past 4 years.I moved to Bristol 12 months ago and am loving this part of the UK.Im lucky enough to have a flat in the creative corner of the city where independent businesses, quirky galleries and Banksy graffiti inspire me to make.
Im a hairdresser by day and the use of sizers and cutting at angles is a surprisingly complementary cross over for my sewing and styling. Both give me a greater appreciation of the other.
Im so glad to find Etsy where we are all supported to be crafty again X

Tote bags from the Tie Tote range are made from vintage mens ties and patch worked into place to create a unique design. No two are ever the same! They are my favorite to make as the final look is a complete surprise. Some look very bo ho whilst others have an edgy feel. The fabrics are luscious
with retro patterns and shimmering silks.

It is estimated that more that 1 million tons of textiles are thrown away each year in Britain alone. At least 50% of these textiles are recyclable.
ARY Designs & Finds has developed from the love of creating things while caring for the environment. Some of the fabrics I’ve used in my collections were destined for landfills, the rest I’ve sourced from local charity shops, freecycle communities in my area and specialist vintage fabric shops. All the fabrics I use are clean, in excellent condition and are cared for in a non smoking, pet free home.
My favorite pieces are born from my huge men’s tie collection; I literally collect men’s ties from wherever in the world I go. Many are from my home country New Zealand – the States and also Britain, where I live now. Vintage and retro ties in luscious silk fabrics are my favorite to work with, so you will see these often adorning my bags, purses and other original pieces. Watch out for the hand dyed doilies and other finds I couldn’t resist at www.arydesign.etsy.com

Thanks for stopping by!! I love what you are doing with the doilies. Such a cool idea to dye them in bright colors and adhere them to your gorgeous bags--I love it!
