Location:
Portland, OR
About Me:
Let's see. For now I'm making handbags and hopefully soon will branch out into messenger bags, jeans and jackets. I'm just starting out and realizing it's just as much work marketing as it is making stuff. I also stage houses to sell. My interests include cats-especially my cat-Glen, sleeping, moving or sitting-standing sux, not flaking out, the enneagram (I'm a 6), gardening-when I'm not stupid busy!, trying to be debt free, painting the hallway, birds-the outside kind, pea fowl, decorating, collaborating, mysteries, humour, Alfred Hitchcock, Film Noir, advice columns.
Gender:
Gal
I am a/an:
Independent Artist/Designer, Blogger, Supporter, Shopper, Independent Retailer
(Designers only) I create:
Handbags, totes, cloth, lined, vintage fabrics or vintage inspired prints. Easy and fun to carry around; even on bikes.
(Designers only) I am willing to do:
Custom orders, Consignment, Wholesaling
Favorite Designers/Artists:
Midgewear, Sofada, Kathryn Hightower, just about any Portland clothing or jewelry designers. catROCKS

Do you know any boutiques that might interested in cloth handbags?

Hi, If you happen to be roaming indie and see this and think of anything, let me know. It seems like leather is really hot now but vinyl is about all I can handle right now....Also, I just "moved" here to Indie so if you want-add me!

note to me: put up pictures of cat, workroom, fabric swatches

make sure that when you're registering, you change the generic URL they give you (www.myspace.com/1234gdhsj) to one that has your shop name (www.myspace.com/iofnewt).

Are you from Portland?

If you are join the Portland Etsy. The first topic was "Avatar". Did I spell that right? For now we were thinking of Mt. Hood. Have to find a good photo...

How does anyone find the time to do/maintain Indie/Etsy?

It's easier for some reason to get this page going as opposed to Etsy, so I really need to get on Etsy. I have 2 of 1 item for sale and have got to add another one. I'm not really good with tags I'm thinking, any good tags? Let me know. I got a timer to get me off off this thing and actually doing the stuff I can sell. How do people divide their time between making the stuff they sell and the computer?!!! I have a day job!! Ack!

I haven't tried to join a street team yet because I'm still not completely sure what they do! It would be nice to meet other local crafters, though.

Thanks for the add, Beth! Since my Etsy shop is also new, I totally hear you about the time that goes into marketing. Hopefully all this effort will get the ball rolling for both of us. :-)

Beth,

I sent you a message.

Your help/enthusiasm is greatly appreciated.
It'd be awesome if you joined the PDXEtsy Street Team, and then you could see who is doing what and when and kind of coordinate your efforts. (So things like press releases etc could be spread out).

If you do not get the Indy message left me know, we can email or convo.

Thanks!

The blogging with any regularity is a new thing.... I'm actually starting to enjoy and have had a ton to talk about lately...
I wish I was in Portland, I'm in Eugene but make frequent trips to Portland. I'll settle in Portland someday but for now life has other directions I need to go!
