Location:

About Me:
Historically Inspired Designs began in 2006, almost by accident! While looking for ways to pay the mortgage on my new-old house in Richmond's ecclectic Northside, I began creating jewelry for sale at Historic Jamestowne during the hectic 400th anniversary year. Focused on providing high-quality, affordable hand-crafted jewelry for the museum store market, the business expanded quickly. Historically Inspired Designs products can now be found at museum stores across the Commonwealth of Virginia.

In 2007, I expanded Historically Inspired Designs to focus more attention on the retail market. My products can now be found on numerous websites including Etsy, Homegrownmarket, Mintd, Lov.li, and Blujay. I can also be found at select fine craft shows and markets around the southeast.

My nine-to-five job is working as a museum curator, so I spend my days steeped in the past and it has deeply influenced my style. My jewelry is inspired by the materials, patterns, shapes, colors, and textures of the past. I love to work with ceramic, glass, freshwater pearls, cloisonne, sterling silver, and gold. My emphasis is on creating classic and modern designs that both evoke the past and are completely wearable today.

Christmas is Coming, the Goose is Getting Fat...

I swear, it's not even Halloween yet and my thoughts have long since turned to the Winter Holidays. **shakes head sadly** I'm worse than the retailers!

I'm so excited about my Holiday Show schedule this year. I'm doing two great shows in Norfolk (Craftology Holiday Expo on October 27th and Handmade Parade on November 10th) and plan on doing at least one market day in November at Alternatives in Carytown. All the details are on my webpage…

Farmers' Markets and the Indie Crafter

So far I've resisted selling at some of our local markets, but as the weather turns cooler and people's thoughts turn to the holidays I thought it would be a nice experiment to try a few of the local markets out as they wind down for the season.

Has anyone had any experience with this? I'll admit I'm a bit nervous about time invested vs. quanity of sales, but some of my friends have done it and been very pleased. If nothing else it will be an excuse to get out and enjoy the fall, which…
