Asking For Trouble

Profile Information

Location:
Glasgow, Scotland
About Me:
I am based in Glasgow and have a degree in Printmaking from Grays School of Art in Aberdeen. I have been making things all my life, from collages and prints to experimenting with fabric and felt. I currently work as a web designer and make things in my spare time. I like to mix up modern and cute patterns with vintage materials and traditional designs. Everything is made with care and love with hand stitched detailing and materials sourced from around the world.
Gender:
Gal
I am a/an:
Independent Artist/Designer, Blogger, Shopper
(Designers only) I create:
Kawaii fabric purses, records & CDs, felt flower brooches, vintage ribbon keyrings, washi covered notebooks, tote bags, customised polka dot purses, pillowcase aprons and photo cards.

My current range is very much inspired by Japan and my visit there last year trying to take in everything from the sensory overload of Tokyo’s toyshops to Kyoto’s beautiful temples and gardens. I use handmade Japanese paper (washi), vintage and new Japanese fabric and Chiyogami patterns to make felt flower brooches, covered notebooks and purses. I’m currently working on a new range of customized bags and purses which are the very essence of Japanese kawaii – so cute you can hardly bear it. I also love vintage patterns and have a range of keyrings and brooches using vintage jacquard ribbon, buttons and charms.
(Designers only) I am willing to do:
Custom orders, Consignment, Wholesaling
(Designers only) My work is sold at:
The Curiosity Shoppe in Portsoy, Scotland. Timespan Gallery shop, Sutherland, Scotland. Online at www.askingfortrouble.org. Craft Markets in and around Glasgow, Scotland
Website:

Hello!

Asking For Trouble is both a record label and a craft thing. You see, we have more ideas than we know what to do with. We’re all about vinyl, short runs and exciting packaging on the one hand and handmade purses, bags, stationery, jewellery and accessories on the other. Between the two is a love of making things that are special and individual.

Find out more and buy online at the Asking For Trouble website.
