Location:
Roscoe, IL, USA
About Me:
I'm a 30-year-old wife, mother, quilt-maker and career woman.

My interests are sustainable design, downtown revitalization, environmental preservation, cottage industries, and how to best raise a preschooler.

I just discovered how much I enjoy hand-sewing about 2 years ago. I do all my sewing by hand, without a sewing machine, and it relaxes me and gives what I feel is a stronger sense of pride when the finished product finally emerges.
Gender:
Gal
I am a/an:
Independent Artist/Designer, Shopper
(Designers only) I create:
Hand-pieced patchwork quilts and other items.
(Designers only) I am willing to do:

Favorite Music/Musicians:
Liz Phair, Depeche Mode, REM, Pixies, NIN... and I really love classic music from the 60s; Hendrix, The Doors, Cream, and mellow oldies like The Mamas and the Papas, Simon and Garfunkel, and The Zombies. I think I was born in the wrong generation.
Favorite TV Show & Movies:
Project Runway, Seinfeld, The Office, The First 48, Colbert Report, and I'm a sucker for Supernanny and Wife Swap.

Still At It

I've been absent from Indiepublic for awhile, but still active on Etsy. A lot has happened since my last blog post.. namely, I became pregnant and had my little daughter 10 weeks prematurely. It has been a whirlwind, and my sewing has defintely taken a back-seat. But now that my daughter is home, and things are normalizing, I am eager to start creating again.. when I find time. A conundrum I'm sure all new moms are familiar with. But I'd like to take a second to share one of my newer fave Etsy… Continue

Latest Creations and Purchases

I recently listed a couple new little girl purses in my Etsy shop. I hope others find them to be as eclectic and adorable as I think they are. It will probably be awhile before I list anything new. I’ve begun work on a lap quilt for my parents, for their Christmas present. And I’ll be starting a twin-size quilt, custom-made for a friend of mine. Well, for her daugh Continue

Summer is Coming to a Close

Over Labor Day Weekend my family and I went back to southeast Iowa to visit family and friends. I went through a bit of a sewing withdrawal, but stayed busy. I try to visit my friend, Amy, every time we are both back in town, and we usually meet at a newer cafe/coffee shop in downtown Burlington, Iowa called Mr. Moto's, where they have great chai tea, salads and paninis. My daughter likes going there, cause the railroad tracks are just a few feet from the windows on the building's side, and s…

Officially Began Christmas Shopping

Yeah, it is only August (for a couple more days, anyway). But I love getting a jump on Christmas shopping. I love to shop, but I'm too stingy with money to buy a lot for myself. So, buying stuff for gifts is a joy to me. I want to buy as many indie items as I can, for gifts this year. Yesterday I received in the mail the first Christmas gift I bought off of Etsy. It is a set of 4 beautiful soup mugs, by PhenixPottery. I am thrilled with…

Rain Rain Go Away...

... Come again some other day. This constant rain is really getting me down. And our grass is getting so long it is nearly unsightly, but it is never dry enough to cut. Not to mention the weather-related tragedies taking place in the region, like the three people killed by lightning in Madison, WI yesterday.

As for my quilt sales, I have finally reached a point where I've sold more items than I have listed right now. But really, that just means I need to list more items. I'm hesitant t…

Thanks for being a friend. I took a quilting class once and I cherish the one I completed. I can't wait until I have the leisure to make another. Your work is beautiful.

Hey! I am still young (ha ha). Nice advice about keeping smaller items at my shop. I am working on some pins right now (they could be used as something else magnet, or just about anything)

Nice see another quilter. Hello and welcome. Thank you for adding me as a friend. I cann't wait to get together and talk quilts. I am a mama too(since I call myself quiltnmama) mine are 8 and 5. I see we are both going to be 30! this year. I just wish I had as much will power to do my quilts strictly by hand. Most is done by machine, but some you just have to do by hand. Good luck and hope we both do well
