I am from the U.S.A and have been living in Japan since 2002. This is my third time to live in Japan.

I learned Chinese Ink Painting when I lived in Sapporo, on the island of Hokkaido in Japan. I was lucky to have gotten a very patient and kind teacher. I have been painting watercolors on rice paper in my own style ever since 1997.

Pilgrimage

I got back from my 2 week vacation on Jan 8th. I finally picked up a paint brush today! I have had this Japanese matte board with gold in my supply stash for months. I finally had an idea of how I could use it.

Christmas in Japan

Christmas decorations in and outside stores went up in Sendai around late November. Even one of the English schools where I work is playing Xmas music this year.

Pocketbook 2008 calendar

This 2008 monthly calendar is small enough to carry with you.

The front and inside cover features my original collage. I have layered rice paper, ephemera, and color to create depth and variations of color.

The days are in English and kanji.
