I design and make jewelry and tiaras, teach Pilates, dance with a local ballet company, and consult occasionally. For a while I was all about metalsmithing, but have moved into wire work using semi-precious stones, crystals, and pearls.
Since childhood I have had a fascination with tiaras and started making them when I was about 9. Don’t wait for a wedding to wear a tiara. My sister (Haddy2Dogs – see her funny blog), who is a fabulous felter, and all around creative gal, swears her tiara helps her felting! I cannot claim tiaras will improve your creativity (but you never know). I do know that they have a magical effect on the wearer’s posture however. My aim in making tiaras is to provide the wearer with a bit of glamour when she goes out on the town, or even when she goes about their more pedestrian chores. Of course if you have an ultra glam event, a tiara is just the thing!
I would be happy to design a tiara or other jewelry accessory to meet your requirements.
Wire-wrapping definitely seems like a natural progression with your work. I found that learning chainmaille really expanded my work and was a natural progression in working with wire and metal. If you are ever interested in learning chainmaille, I'd be happy to point you in the right direction. :)
I love the pics! So what do I have to do to get the jewels to match my tiara? I will post my pics of me wearing my tiara while teaching felting to kids soon....
Your's rocks more! I am going to try to post more stuff tomorrow. Keep on wearing your tiara -- it enhances cognitive funtion and creativity (claim not FDA approved).
