About Me:

I love to sew and create things with my hands.
I believe in questions, big trees, music, Elvis impersonators, birds, conversation and laughing.
I enjoy cemetaries for the quiet and stories.
I am interested in people, what they do and how they do it,
where they are and why. My favorite word is simplify. But sometimes I tend to complicate things.
Two of my best friends are Nora and Una,
they are my dogs, they think I'm perfect and always smell good.

I have been making all kinds of teddy bears for about 21 years.
useing materials such as mohair and the softest wool fabric that
I felt and over dye. I am self taught. My joy is in creating a whimsical, lyrical, sincere, odd sort of teddy bear. All of my teddy bears are individual and
one of a kind. Created one at a time, designed and handsewn by
me.
My teddy bears are filled with poly-fil and cotton, Noses; I stitch with wool or cotton floss.
German glass eyes are my eyeballs of choice. I sand and /or paint them for a custom finish.
Limbs are created from felted and overdyed cashmere wool fabric,
Or crocheted with wool yarn and felted to create a dense richly textured fabric.
The mohair I use is also overdyed in tiny batches on my stove.
Hand shaded detail compliments and adds individual character to those faces that "only a mother (or father)
could love"!
Various items I choose to include in my work are recycled and reused, simply because it inspires me.
When I name my teddies I reach into the soft squishy recesses of my mind sometimes all the way up to my elbow for just the right moniker.
The name might seem a bit odd or maybe even a little strange but if you look closely at the bear you will see that it fits just right. Ta Daa!
