I am retired from Corporate America (after 23 years) and am now an alpaca farmer. I currently care for 15 beautiful Suri alpacas. Suris are the rarest kind of alpaca making up only 7% of the entire world alpaca population. Their high luster fiber hangs in locks along the sides of their body and is very soft and non-allergic.
Alpacas are sheared every spring, which gives me many bags and pounds of fiber. I have white, light and medium fawn, and medium brown fiber. I sell my fiber by the ounce or pound.
I've learned to spin this year and am knitting and crocheting all the yarn that I spin in order to test the quality and consistency. Once I feel my yarn and yarn products are good enough to sell, I will list them.
I have recently learned about needle felting and am making little needle felted alpacas in many different colors and poses or positions. They range from 3" to 7" tall. I use wool batting for the core as it helps with shaping.
I majored in art in college and enjoy doing pencil portraits from photographs. I will take orders for portraits and also for needle felted alpacas in specific colors and poses.
I have recently published a book of photographs that I've taken over the past five years since I've been raising alpacas on Snowflake Farms in Benson, VT. There are photos of flowers, beautiful sunrises and sunsets, the scenery around our farm in the four Vermont seasons, and a five year photo diary of our alpacas.

Deanna,
Very interesting! My aunt is crazy about alpacas! Her sister raising some too! Yours are so adorable. I love the fact that you raise them, shear them and use their wool for knitting and crafts. Just wonderful.

Wow, your alpacas (both your real, live ones and the needlefelted ones in your Etsy shop) are beautiful!
