Profile Information

Location:
Renton, WA
About Me:
I have been making Ukrainian eggs for about 9 years. I taught myself how to do it from a book that I had bought for my Grandmother – but since she never tried it she gave it back to me and I have loved doing it ever since. I have not had much time to do it for the past few years, being so busy with my job, getting married, and having a baby. But now that my son is two, and I am now staying at home with him, I finally have time to do it again, even though, he keeps me pretty busy and I have to be creative with my time management!
Gender:
Gal
I am a/an:
Independent Artist/Designer, Supporter, Shopper
(Designers only) I create:
Otherwise known as “Pysanky”, Ukrainian Eggs are an ancient art form still practiced today. These are done in the traditional way of using beeswax and dye in a wax resistant process, or batik-like process, on blown eggs. The whole process takes many hours to complete, the total time depending on the intricacy of the design and size of the egg. The symbols and colors decorating the eggs have special meanings, and can often mean many different things.
(Designers only) I am willing to do:

Thanks, Sarah. Too bad my babies are 18 and 20 years old! We still have oodles of nifty blankets for our snuggling, though :) You can never have enough blankets ~e

Your Eggs are beautiful. My favorite is the Coral with Fish... the Blues with Fish... the Rose Buds... the Hearts. Alright, I have lots of favorites. They're all very pretty, I can't decide :) ~e
