Artsy housewife originally from San Francisco but who has lived almost ten years in Berlin, I am a writer and published poet and also love making things (vintage-inspired jewelry, altered fashions, small works of art.) To get to know me best, read my blog (link down below) and visit my ever expanding shop at Etsy.
Beautiful brass jewelry with a vintage touch, hand-sewn chokers and altered fashions. I also add text and effects to vintage photographs and illustration.
Any one who works with color and/or has a sexy edge. Missoni and Vivian Westwood come to mind. I also love Kookai. As far as artists, I love Nan Goldin, Diane Arbus, Walter Shels, photographers who take real people as their subjects and who are intense and not afraid to be raw. Architects, Mies van der Rohe, Le Courbisier, the Taut brothers. I love style of clothing and interiors from the 20s, 30s, 50s and early 60s. Simple designs that are elegant with flair. I also collect vintage photographs that speak to me, love pre-raphealite inspired illustration.
Favorite Music/Musicians:
I'm a jazz head. Love Be-bop and hard-bop as well as more lounge-y and vocal stuff. Saw both McCoy Tyner and Herbie Hancock in the last two years and both rocked my world. I also love the rockabilly sound, some surf music, Janis Joplin, Bobby Womack, and classical stuff as well. I have a degree in classical singing and love Schumann and Brahms lieder as well as Granados and Grieg.
Favorite TV Show & Movies:
LOST (we won't get the new season here for forever!!), Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Six Feet Under, Deadwood
Movies: The Third Man, All About My Mother, Unforgiven, Once upon a time in the West
