About Me:
Tasica Singleton is a Colorado native born in 1982 in the city of Fort Collins. As a young girl, her passion was creating imaginary worlds and colorful characters through her art. By the young age of 6, Tasica’s work had already begun to touch lives around the world as a poster she designed was selected for the Youth Art Exchange, an international exhibition in Russia. In high school, yet another poster design met with success — Tasica’s artwork for Colorado State University’s annual Martin Luther King Day celebration was selected for print and hung throughout the city of Fort Collins. Tasica’s art was also gaining recognition both regionally and nationally: she was awarded two Gold Key awards in the 1996 Colorado Scholastic Arts contest, and one of the winning artworks went on to take top honors in the National Scholastic competition. The winning piece, a surrealistic multimedia work entitled Poppy Field, was showcased at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington D.C.

Tasica’s love of art continued through high school, and in 1998 she was honored as “Best High School Artist” by the American Scholastic Press Association. She decided to take her passion to the renowned Savannah College of Art & Design in historic Savannah, Georgia, which recognized her admissions portfolio with the Frances Larkin McCommon scholarship. She went on to receive a B.F.A. in Illustration after cultivating her skills and personal artistic style under the tutelage of accomplished professors and industry icons.

Tasica enjoys writing and illustrating children’s books, as well as doing freelance and commissioned works. Shortly after graduation, she strayed from the traditionally small format of illustration, completing two 3' x 4' paintings for a popular Savannah business. Tasica also works in numerous disciplines — her hand-painted dishware can be purchased at the Savannah College of Art & Design’s boutique, ShopSCAD, and she helped ink illustrations for a children’s book published in August 2007. Tasica’s interest in juvenile fiction is reflected by her membership with the Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators. Her approach is versatile, varying from exquisite realism to spastic impressionism, each work showcasing her personal flair and an abundance of detail. Tasica looks forward to a career where her imagination will inspire and enlighten those who view her art.

Favorite Designers/Artists:
Mark Ryden is an amazing illustrator and I have always respected both Andy Warhol and Picasso. I also really love a lot of what Takashi Murakami does, especially in collaboration with Louis Vuitton! I am very taken with fashion design and absolutely love classic Chanel, L.A.M.B. and anything Gwen Stefani creates, Betsy Johnson and have a profound respect for Mister Marc Jacobs. I love anything and everything Juicy Couture, for the fancy, whimsical and girlie fashions constantly created! Fashion influences my artwork as well as my daily life without a doubt!
