Going to the Flea Market

A friend and I are going to go to the Fairgrounds Flea Market in Raleigh this weekend and try our hand at selling our purses. I know we may not rake in the big bucks since it is, after all, a flea market, BUT the space is only $18 and it will be fun just hanging out. I've been working all week making some new bags since this week is the first week of my Spring Break. Here's some samples of what I've made-

Brand New Vinyl Purse Design at SwitchBladeCustoms!

I finished this awesome vinyl shoulder bag yesterday and listed it at the shop I share with my husband, http://switchbladecustoms.etsy.com. It has a green front/back, silver bottom gusset, and copper colored side gussets. The strap is silvertone chain, connected to the bag th… Continue

What a weekend!

I was home alone this weekend, so I did a LOT of sewing! I'm quite impressed with myself so I thought I would share. :)

I made-

*An A-line skirt for my sister

*A large tie-top hobo bag featuring Day of the Dead skulls (see my photos)

*A smaller tie-top hobo bag featuring pink-toned tattoo flash (see my photos)

*Several dish towels from vintage dish towel linen (I also stamped them and started embroidering them.)

*Finished embroidering a vintage pin-up…

Goody Two Shoes

Holiday food is boring to me. No, not just boring. Depressing. Here's my current list of no-nos and nevers (due to a pretty bad case of NSAID-induced gastritis):

*caffeine

*dark soda

*spicy

*fatty

*oily

*McDonalds (BARF)

*alcohol

*red meat, unless it is really lean

*more than one or two cookies

I didn't smoke before, so I don't care about no-smoking. I wouldn't mind a nice rum and coke, however, and delicious Christmas Eve…

Almost Christmas!

I have only four more days to go until my three-week Christmas vacation. I am psyched! I plan on doing a lot of embroidery and sewing during my vacation. I haven't been able to do much for the past couple of weeks, but I do have some projects I'm working on. I'm currently working on two more vintage pin-up girl embroidered purses and some metal-flake vinyl zippered pouches. I paid almost $5 a spool for some really cool metallic thread, so I am looking forward to playing with it on the vinyl! I'm… Continue

I've always loved the Maneki Neko. My boyfriend gave me a little gold one when I started getting serious about my business so I named it after the cat.

I actually like those Nightmare on Elm Street type movies. AsaMina Sura, my 6 year old tiel, also really loves them. She'll sit and watch the entire movie from my ponytail. You'd think she'd be spooked by it, but nope, her eyeballs are glued to the screen the whole time! Actually, I like those movies more since AsaMina hatched. It's fun watching her watch the movie! As a kid I'd read Tell Tale Heart before bed on dark and stormy nights---much to the disgust and total terror of my little sister. We shared a room and she spooked very easily :-)
