Some of the goodies I'll be taking to Craft 2.0 for July 19th. Whee!

Owl brooches, felt and buttons with handstitched detail and pin back. I've made a few different colours, but no pictures of those yet!

Flower brooches in progress. They still need to be handstitched and have the pin back attached. The design was inspired (traced from!) a vintage table cloth that's covering our dining table!

Last week I borrowed Nerdy Dad's camera. I seem to be able to get much better pictures out of it as long as I have good light. Yay! As soon as I have a spare minute after exams, I'm going to attempt to make a light tent from this tutorial: http://digital-photography-school.com/blog/how-to-make-a-inexpensive-light-tent/ which will hopefully improve things even more.

About Me:: I’m a trainee Early Childhood teacher who loves children, op shopping, vintage fabric (mostly from the 50s-70s), wine, reading, and sewing. My cats are coddled like spoiled children.

My girlfriend and I recently moved to a smaller town from Auckland, New Zealand’s biggest city, partially so we could have room for a studio for me and to house our always growing collection of ugly vintage fabulousness.

At the moment I’m mostly focussed on sewing clothing for children, but often just make whatever catches my fancy - from cushion covers, to bags, hats, and clothes for myself. When I use patterns, I use mostly vintage.

I like to use vintage because the patterns were so gorgeous, there’s something rewarding about turning old into new, the fabric is of great quality (after all, it’s survived this long), and it’s my way of doing my bit towards helping to look after the Earth. Ours is such a throwaway society, and it makes me feel good to make quality pieces that are meant to last and be passed down. It makes me feel as if I have a link to those that came before me.
