About Me:
I've been knitting and crocheting for years. I love finding ways to make things that will help the environment like reusable shopping bags.
I knit and crochet and am relearning how to sew. I love to take road trips to other cities to pick up yarn and fabric for projects. Never know what I'm going to make them into when I get them, I just wait for them to speak to me. Sometimes that takes a couple years - my stash seems to constantly grow and never shrink.
I just moved to Seattle from Atlanta and I'm loving it. I'm a nomad at heart and I love to travel - the world is too beautiful to miss, especially if we only have this one short life. I have several tattoos and want more. I'm spiritual but not religious though I have a deep and profound respect for religion.
I'm a classic nerd - I read constantly, watch educational TV, love documentaries of all kinds, have a job in the IT world, wear glasses...But I also love the outdoors and am out in it whenever possible. I live in the city but get out into nature frequently.
I've found that traveling and knitting are my steadiest loves. I'm passionate about the outdoors and our environment but have found that living in the city is a must for me.
My dream is to be able to support myself with my knitting and crocheting because I can do it from anywhere on the globe and I love to do it. My hands abhor being idle, if I'm not doing something with them then they're drumming on anything nearby. To me, the meaning and purpose of life is to enjoy being alive. The more people you can spread that joy to, the more joy there will be in living.

Portland Love!

I jaunted down to Portland this weekend to do a little exploring and hit the local craft shops and market. Portland is a knitter's dream!!! The city is full of little local yarn and craft stores that have some of the most varied and beautiful merchandise I've ever had the good fortune to lay eyes on. Even the thrift stores are gold mines. At Powell's in Belmont I found some recycled silk Sari yarn - hand spun from old silk sari's. I can't wait to use this stuff...I knew such a yarn was out there… Continue

Current Projects

Finally finished the argyle scarf! Double knitting is definitely fun but it threw me off for a couple days when I tried to get back to my regular knitting. My two current works in production are a knitted summer top and a upcycled handbag. I also got some incredible undyed organic cotton yarn from StickChick, www.stickchick.etsy.com that I'm going to use to make a blanket for a friend of mine having chemo and who therefore has no immune system to speak of. I thought all natural and cotton, no dy… Continue

Branching Out

I guessing that this is supposed to be all about our current projects but sometimes I might interject a few side notes, maybe some thoughts I'm currently having about life or questions I have concerning said subject. And I can sometimes ramble. I don't know anyone here in Seattle so I've had a LOT of extra time to work on my knitting and crochet projects. My sister has also been making some things for my Etsy shop, www.skybox.etsy.com. It's great to have her help with the crochet market totes. I… Continue
