- I have loved the arts for as long I can remember. My mother played violin in our community orchestra when I was a toddler and I was often backstage observing the actors and singers enjoying their craft. It was always very exciting to me. I was an active member of our school drama department and sang, danced and acted in several productions. I did contemplate going into Drama in college, but mom said it would be more practical to learn a trade. After graduating from college in technology and joining the work force, the art thing went out the window. Then I discovered gardening and used my artistic abilities to landscape our land with flowers and plants. In between, I did my share of crafting and sewing, but I never tried painting. I just didn't think I had it in me. Then my friend convinced me to take some beginners' painting classes. After my first session I was hooked and took off on my own. I'm self taught and learn with every piece I create.
I enjoy painting folk art of yesteryear. Lots of country landscapes with covered bridges, barns and churches. I also love all the holidays and try to incorporate them into my art. Many of my pieces have humor in them and lots of little details. My medium is acrylic and I have painted on everything from furniture to shovels.
My short term goal is to have one piece of my art in each state and province and then beyond.
