Umm, who doesn't love Watermelon! And it's the perfect time for it, since Summer has unofficially started.
So I have a great project to put you in the mood for summer.
A Watermelon Candle Holder
All you'll need is:
1 Quart Glass Jar
Small Sea Sponge
10 Gauge Green Wire
22 Gauge Green Wire
Gloss Enamels in: Red, Black, Hunter Green, Fuchsia, and Yellow Green
Now, what you do is:
- Clean your glass jar with vinegar and wipe dry.
- Sponge paint about a 2" segment of Hunter green on the bottom of the jar, clean sponge.
- Then sponge paint another 4" segment above the green with red, clean sponge.
- Then sponge paint about a 1" segment with fuchsia and tap into red as you sponge, to blend slightly between the colors. Let dry.
- Freehand or transfer seeds and ants in black.
- Then let the paint dry for 24 hours.
- Afterwards, bake the jar in an oven for 30 minutes at 325 degrees.
Then to hang/hold the item:
- Cut three 14" pieces from the 10 gauge green wire.
- Then cut a 12" piece from the 22 gauge green wire.
- Place the three pieces of 10 gauge wire together with ends even.
- Wrap a small piece of 22 gauge wire around the center of the 3 pieces. And bend the wire to form a handle.
- Using the flat pliers, bend wire 3" from the bottom on each side of the handle out 90 degrees.
- Fit handle over the top of the jar with the sides against the top of the jar.
- Then cut six 12" pieces of 22 gauge green wire. Use three pieces to fit around the top of the jar and on the outside of the wire handle.
- Using flat nosed needle pliers, twist the wire together to hold the handle on the jar near one end of handle.
- Repeat the above step with the other 3 pieces of wire, working in the opposite direction. Your twisted pieces should be on each side of the handle.
- Using the round nosed pliers, grab the end of each thick and thin wire one by one, and twist two or three times to form curls. Place a citronella votive or another candle you like insdie the jar.
And Voila a new summer centerpiece for you table!
Hi Everyone,
I want to apologize for not popping in lately. I have fallen behind in my crafting and blogging. I haven't forgotten you. I will soon be taking a 1600 mile trek across the good ol' US of A soon and will be hit or miss for the next two months. But have no fear I will return soon enough, faster and stronger! :^)
In the meantime, Happy Belated Mother's Day to all the fabulous mothers out there.
So, I wanted to try something a little different this time. I wanted to see what you've been crafting. Either my projects or your own. What have you been up to?
Send me your pictures and projects that you've recently finished. I'll pick two lucky people and post what they've done for the whole world to see!
So send in your creation! Can't wait to see!

There was a shooting here not even a week ago. I actually almost got shot, but I don't like to dwel on that. I was watching tv in the living room and I thought I heard fireworks right next to my window, and i thought "odd". Next thing you know my roomie is running downstairs like OMG! She told me she heard some guys arguing outside before the gunshots. One of the bullets went right through my next door neighbors window. Could've been mine, and I was sitting right there y'know?! And there is a chip in one of the bricks on our house. It's scary... Didnt realise I was this unsafe here.
