Bits & Pieces

PHEW! Is it possible that I have been absent from Blogdom for six days? Seriously, in my mind, I only took two days off. Hey, I was tired.
Here is what I have been doing:
1. Comparing most AWESOME shoes with Amilia at the park over beautiful fallen Oak leaves...

2. Making YUMMY oatmeal raisin cookies. SHHHHH!
Don't tell Amilia...I used the Jessica Seinfeld trick and put 1/2 cup of pureed banana and 1/2 cup of pureed zucchini in these. You can't even tell (other than that there was a hint of banana flavor...if you wanted to further disguise, use less banana). You can find out what I am talking about here. My tip: use your own favorite cookie recipe.
AND DON'T USE MARGARINE!! use REAL butter from cows not treated with hormones or antibiotics. use the whole egg, not just the white...

3. Making cute little blanket and pillow sets for Christmas gifts. This one is sized for a 12" doll or stuffed animal. It is reversible, and the other side is the same baby blue cloud design as part of the center pillow. Amilia is very excited to give this gift to her cousin. We have folded, stacked, and tied it with a blue yarn ribbon.

4. Washing, ironing, and folding these pieces of fabric so they will be ready to turn into some more FABULOUS Christmas gifts.

Tomorrow...more sewing!

Tonight...more sleep!!!

Teleported by Tunes

Yesterday, INXS transported me to 1988 where all things were
possible and the future was laid out before me like the
YELLOW BRICK ROAD.

Treatury and Failure live on that road. They live next to
Hope and Promise, just up the road from Dreams and Disillusionment.

i was trying on LARGER THAN LIFE for size.

Today, Bob Seger and his band of Silver Bullets threw me even
further back with his love of Old Time Rock & Roll,
soothing my soul...

Then Jeremiah that happy drunk Bullfrog chimed in...

And Steely Dan told Rikki to DEFINITELY NOT lose that number...

Satellite Radio is pretty good, after all. No, really, I'm Sirius!

Profile Information

Location:
United States
About Me:
As a child, I was always the one raking leaves, mowing lawns, cleaning houses, and washing windows for the neighbors to make spending money.

I have always been interested in the creative arts. I have been beading jewelry and creating things for others for as long as I can remember, and have dabbled in book binding, photography, pottery, knitting, sewing, and writing.

I love the natural world and attempt to tread softly on the environment to the fullest extent possible. I enjoy using natural fabrics and materials, and reflecting natural influences in my designs.

I usually try to include found, rescued, or otherwise soon-to-be-discarded items in my work. I find it thrilling to make a thrift store or yard sale find, or a back-of-my-closet find, and to turn it into something new and exciting. I challenge myself and others to keep various packaging to upcycle.

Together, we can all reduce the landfills and make our world a cleaner, healthier place!

The BEST of the COOLEST

Imagine your alarm clock blaring "Margaritaville." You roll over sleepily and hit the snooze button until the alarm is now blaring "Bad Moon Rising." Reluctantly, you roll over and actually turn the alarm to the OFF position, then stretch, rub your eyes, and flip the covers off your nice snug frame. Next, you slide into your slippers and shuffle off to the kitchen for a cup of coffee. If you have a smart coffee maker, the coffee is ready and waiting for you to simply add desired flavor enhancer… Continue

Things That I Remember (4)

Well, now I have not only neglected to blog daily, but I have missed a week in my weekly blog entry. I shall remedy that now... Yesterday was Mother's Day. Since I am a mother, it was my day. The problem with that is that the rest of the world continues as if it were any other Sunday, and life obligations do not stop to bow down to Mother's Day. I had work to do, since we are moving to a new state soon, and packing waits for no Mother. In the morning, I got a card and the nice wishes, and then… Continue

Things that I Remember (3)

Things That I Remember (3) Well, every day is simply not going to happen any time soon, but every Monday is something I can commit to, at least! This week, I did not have a specific memory in mind, but I rattled around in my head a bit and found one. When I was about five years old, I had a back yard of rock for a short time. There were small gravel rocks and larger white landscaping rocks with shiny glints of quartz in them. I had a set of three or four tiny glass bottles that I absolutely lo… Continue

Things That I Remember (2)

Well, it's Memories Monday again; where did the week go? My ambitious plan to add a post every day has certainly failed to make it into action! I was taking photos of my daughter's feet in some puddles a few days ago, and it made me think about when I was a child and loved to jump in puddles and play in the rain. These days, I seldom allow myself time to engage in such silly fun, and I began by telling my daughter to "stop that and go inside, you're going to get dirty." Really, what difference d… Continue

Things That I remember (1)

I was lying on the couch under the cooler yesterday afternoon after doing a LOT of housework, and moving furniture and whatnot, and I was reminded of when I was a child and I would lie on my grandmother's bed right near the water cooler. The noise of the fan blades was comfortable and soothing, and the drip drip drip of the water had a hypnotic effect. I loved to lie there by the cooler and close my eyes and wonder what the future had in store. Funny how the wondering is often so much more inter… Continue

RME worked out just fine for me. I use it from time to to time to receive payments. No fees. Just like they say. And withdrawing it to bank account is just as easy as it is with Paypal. No probs at all. I have been using it for about 4 months.

Welcome to Indie!!!

A bunch of us who sell on Etsy.com have already started excepting RME payments!

It is a new online payment site that a lot more people are using now because it is totally free! No FEES!!!!!!
When someone pays you,you get all of your money! Works just like paypal but without the fees. AND they give you $25 for free just for signing up! I didn't want to tell others about it until I actually got my $25 in my bank account and started using it myself. But I have been using it and it is great! So I am spreading the word!
I am so sorry if this sounds or looks like spam. It is not meant to be at all!!! I really just want to tell you about a new way to except online payments without any fees.

Thank you! Yes, we are a December family (daughter on the 2nd, spouse on 5th, e 15th), and we all get our birthday separate from Christmas. I had enough combining when I was a child!

You make so many lovely things!! Being a kindred Sagitarian, have you also banned the dreaded "combo birthday/xmas gift"? :)
