We all expect that when we start selling our products customers will be lining up to purchase our products. However, there are so few people that have a business that just takes off. Sometimes you go to a fair or show and sell some products, and sometimes you sell nothing at all. In the begining, however, it is important to not become negative. It will take hard work and dedication to succeed, and if you want it bad enough it will happen. It just will take time.
This is what we have and continue to learn as we try to build our business. So keep your head up. If you want and work for it, it will come.
thanks for the words of encouragement rebecca! i have been on etsy since april and still have not had a sale :( i left my corporate job and sometimes i think i made a huge mistake even though making art is my true passion. it's just time that eats away at you....and the negativity starts. it's places like indie that give you support and that's awesome!!
Hello Jill, I clicked the wrong tab by accident and stumbled upon your comment here. I just want to tell you how much I enjoyed looking at your work, and I hearted a handful of your listings. In particular the Chang Series, Dear Mister, East River, and especially the NYC Times Square piece. Disposable income is at a premium right now, but I would like very much to buy "NYC August 2006" as soon as things loosen up a bit. Wishing you much success! Peace, Kimberlee :-)
Michael and Rebecca, what you said is so true. I have been in the business for 30 years and there has been many ups and downs. It takes a lot of patience to stick with it. Right now it is summer and people have vacations and the economy on their minds and things are not selling as well. Things will ease up soon and everyone will need things for the holiday gifts and we will all be selling again.
