When you were little, what did you want to be when you grow up?
AND
Looking back, what did you want to be that you can't believe you EVER wanted to be?

*******
There were so many things I wanted to be when I was little - from a nurse, to an author, to a veterinarian, to a model. Its great to dream isn't it?

Looking back, it was probably the idea of being a teacher that is most surprising to me now. I don't think I could even consider it - the though of getting up in front of others (especially children) to teach just makes me nervous. I much prefer not to be in public speaking of any kind. I have so much respect and admiration for people who can do this - and to help people to learn and grow, too. Wow.

I always wanted to be an artist....just like my parents!

I wanted to be a teacher until I was in 8th grade and had my first opportunity to actually teach... I taught children's pottery classes through the local artist's guild during the summer months and quickly realized that I wasn't cut out for that--not enough patience! Went to college to study writing and become an editor. Hmmm--so what do I do now? Jewelrymaking sure never figured into any of those early plans...LOL

I wanted to be a teacher from the time I started school. And I was for 30 years....
Standing in front of a classroom, yes, even highschoolers, is not at all like standing in front of other groups. If I have to even say my name to a group, I get all choked up and can hardly get the words out, my stomach goes into knots....

I wanted to be a lawyer or Wonder Woman, and nothing else!

In order:
nurse
interior decorator
psychologist
marine biologist
writer

And now...I'm a writer/crafter whose husband is her patron of the arts. (Read:I have no marketable skills...yet!)

When I think about being a nurse, I just cringe - I've never even had blood drawn or been in the hospital!

I wanted to be an artist, so I became one. :)

Though to be fair, I did want to be an archaeologist, a volcanologist, a marine biologist, and a fashion designer, too.

I wanted to be an artist. Everyone told me I'd never make any money and that I should go into medicine. I worked in the medical field as a nursing assistant and a phlebotomist (drew blood) while going to school. I ended up majoring in Illustration at an art college, got my BFA and I just opened an Etsy shop 5 days ago.
I am much happier following my dream than someone else's advice.
