Hopefully I put this in the right section of the forum; I always stress over "categories"! rofl.

I posted this on Etsy too, but I figured I'd ask here as well and see if anyone could point me in the right direction! I'm in the process of designing several new plush animals, and wanted to make some of these "child safe" by not using the button eyes I normally use. What are some option for child safe eyes on toys? Little felt circles sewn on? painted on? embroidered?? I guess I'm at a loss, so advice/pointers from seasoned plush-makers is welcome!! :)

Thanks in advance!

Cheers!

Hi Casey, although I haven't made a lot of stuffed animals, on Cuteable I've seen that child-safe generally means eyes that are embroidered/sewed securely on. I hope that helps!

I like the idea of embroided eyes. You could make them very detailed and real looking that way.

You can get plastic safety eyes that are quite realistic on the front (domed, with an iris and a pupil) and they are attached to your plush by cutting a very small hole which you feed them stem of the eye through and attach it to the plush by pushing on a little "washer" type thing which once on won't budge and won't let little kids rip them off the toy and swallow. Look on Ebay or your favourite craft shop and most carry them
