Okay...here is my situation! I have been having a hard time finding used Barbie/Bratz/My Scene (basically name brand) dolls for my jewelry (a la this). I have looked in all the local thrift shops and garage sales with absolutely no luck! Some people have told me that they have some, and might be willing to send me some. My thing is, they can weigh a lot and I dont think it would be cost affective to send them to me b/c of the postage. Here is my idea:
I was thinking of putting on my blog or etsy or something a little thing that is something like "Send me a used Barbie (ets) or equizilant hard plastic accessories (ie shoes, cups, hair driers) and I will send you a pair of earrings! (namely these...but I could also offer other colors too...)
What do you guys think. I am just trying to see if anyone is interested and fleshing out the idea.
Let me know what you think! Got any improvements? Would you consider this kind of thing?

that sounds like a good idea. I think there are some swap groups either on this site or estylove.ning.com or flickr.com...or try searching thru yahoo groups

If the people shipping are in the US you can always use flat rate postage from the USPS. Flat rate boxes are only $8.95 and can hold quite a bit. Flat rate envelopes are only $4.60 and also can hold a lot in them.

I think it's a great idea to offer something in return though too. :)

You could recruit other etsy artists to get these items for you and just ship what you need (arms and legs I assume). You could offer discounts or offer to trade, but I think it might work. Never hurts to try! I will keep my eyes peeled too.
