When you were little, what did you want to be when you grow up?
AND
Looking back, what did you want to be that you can't believe you EVER wanted to be?

*******
There were so many things I wanted to be when I was little - from a nurse, to an author, to a veterinarian, to a model. Its great to dream isn't it?

Looking back, it was probably the idea of being a teacher that is most surprising to me now. I don't think I could even consider it - the though of getting up in front of others (especially children) to teach just makes me nervous. I much prefer not to be in public speaking of any kind. I have so much respect and admiration for people who can do this - and to help people to learn and grow, too. Wow.

I wanted to be a paleontologist. I love dinosaurs and fossils and all of science that goes into that subject. I think I would have been very happy digging up fossils. I think about myself, out in the glaring sun all day, and I don't think I miss the opportunity to do that part.

I wanted to be spy. A war correspondent. A veterinarian (too!). A teacher. An advertising exec. And tons of other things. I had a big imagination. =)

A scientist. Pretty much constantly. Except for when I wanted to be a hockey player.

Okay, so the hockey player was pretty much right out (though I do still have a chipped tooth from playing on the neighbor's pond). The scientist? Not in my job, but I do still have the mindset in a lot of ways...

I don't remember anything I wanted to be as a kid that I couldn't imagine now, but I certainly couldn't have imagines _being_ where I am now when I was a kid!

When I was little the biggest things I wanted to do were be a secretary (go figure), a writer, a vet, and a librarian. Annnd maybe a movie star, but that was only sometimes.

I still think all of them are great ideas and I've sort of done most of them (receptionist, vet tech, short stories etc.), but the librarian is the one I think is the funniest. It'd be too monotonous for me now.

Well, I always loved jewelry, and wanted to learn how to do lost wax casting (after reading a national geographic article on it when I was about 9 or 10 - have yet to learn that, but have since learned a lot of other techniques.) That, and I wanted to become a nuclear physicist (didn't do that one.)
