Alright, so it's been raining off and on in Vegas the past week or so and we've now got a full-fledged ANT invasion in our house. They're primarily coming through the faucet in our bathtub.

We've tried bait and even had the pest guy over a few times; I'm pretty sure they came in due to the inclement weather, but right now they're having a fiesta in my bathtub and I can't seem to get them to just go away.

Anybody have any tried and true solutions to deal with ants?

We get them every summer in our house. Our house is an old New Englander from the 18 Centeries. Love the old styles they used, but we also have a dirt basement. Thats were the ants come in. We use the house style trapes. You can find any style they all work great. You can find them at any store like wal-mart or Home Depot. The trap has food in side the house and they bring it back you the nest and the colony dies. But you also have to treat outside as well, treat the nest itself. You can get that at Home Depot. It is a granular type application, much like fertilizer and is applied the same way. This should work great.

ants just creep me out- I have them every summer. What seems to work well is lemon- for an emergency when they're really thick, I use a lemon (or lime) air freshener that comes from the health food store and it completly wipes them out- kills 'em dead instantly. It's pricy, but a little goes a long way. ("Lemon/Lime Mate" is what I've been using, but probably any kind will do.)

Ants won't cross a chalk line. It is so true, I've tried it. Find where they are coming in, and draw a heavy chalk line or circle around their entryway. You can always wash the chalk off your walls or floors later when they go away. I suggest the big chunky chalks, such as sidewalk chalk. Try this out. Lemme know how it goes. Good Luck!

My house had an awful ant problem when I first moved in because it had been sitting empty for 8 months. Here's what I did- we have had ZERO ants since I did this. I followed their lines to see where they were entering my house, and then caulked up the cracks with clear caulk. This would probably be very effective for your faucet- it may also need new washers. I put poison baits OUTSIDE the house, the kind that go down into the ground. Then, I used strategically placed "house" baits indoors. I put them in corners, behind chairs, etc- all places the ants liked to hang out. It took me probably a month to get rid of them, but now I have none. Haven't seen one in 2 years, and they were all in our food, our carpets, our cats bowls, our bathroom, etc. We were very infested.
I have found all the non-poison ideas useless- People told me to use grits, cinnamon, etc. Totally useless.
