I love to create! But, sometimes I just need a break or run out of ideas and need a week or two to recharge. Do you ever go through this? How do you occupy your time when you are taking a creative break?
Personally, I still like to fill that time doing this with my hands. Most often I will turn to cross-stitch (okay not completely uncreative, but I just follow a pattern and don't need to design anything). Or I like to de-fuzz thrift store sweaters and take them apart for yarn (silly, but I enjoy it) :)
If I'm not vegging out in front of the tv, a good mystery book is my favorite way to forget everything! I suggest a Patricia Cornwell (her Kay Scarpetta series is wonderful but really should be read somewhat in order if you plan to read more) or Iris Johansen book. Reading really interesting books like these completely takes me into another place which is really nice and refreshing. Usually I read for an hour or 2 before bed. I've also recently discovered the wonders of books on tape. They're fabulous for making time go by realllly quickly (especially when driving on long trips!)
I live near the mountains so when I need a break I go for a walk and just look at them -- or get in my car and dive that way. They're beautiful and huge and relaxing and remind me that whatever I've got going wrong, well, compared to _that_? Just doesn't matter, does it?
Being creative is my break, so I have not run up on this just yet. Now, when I am too tired from work to create, I go to etsy and find lots and lots of new faves :)
I like to take pictures. Just go outside and take photos of what I see from different angles. and with the new technology, they can transform... beautiful!
Well I knit, In but it is akin to cross-stitch. I clean, and I garden. If I am in a real tight to get my creativity flowing, ( don't laugh) I watch non-stop Cirque de Soliel. OK you can laugh if you want to!
