Indiepublic

If you're new to Indiepublic, please introduce yourself here! We're a friendly and supportive community so don't be shy.

I'll start: My name is Sion Lee and I live in Las Vegas, NV. I'm a full-time blogger and artist; you may know me from my blog, Cuteable, or from my art, Ubiki. I have an engineering background which allows me to do all sorts of fun stuff with websites, but at heart I'm a creative soul who enjoys art and design.

In my spare time I like doodling, feeding the koi in my backyard pond, and playing with my crazy monster beagle, Sogo!

Hi everyone, my name is Mary with the nick name of Marmar. I live in South Central Pennsylvania. I drive a school van, I have a blog, a facebook, an etsy shop, (can anyone remind me of my passwords?) LOL
In my spare time, I like to create jewelry, right now I seem to be stuck on wire creations, but tomorrow I may jump into the expensive world of PMC. with time permitting. Oh, I did make a repurposed vintage necklace today, but still need to take pictures of it.
I have two grown children that live in houses of their own, and I'm waiting (very patiently I might add) to become a "Grammy". Rumor has it both of my children will be trying to have children in the coming new year. Yipppeeee!
We (Mr. R & myself) have two dogs, one is a Cockapoo named Amber and the other is an Eskipoo named Corky. They run us and this house.
Well, I look forward to getting to know everyone and their art.
Thanks for letting me join.
Mary

Hi...I'm an artist from sunny Sarasota, Florida. I paint in acrylics on canvas and watercolors and draw with colored pencils, graphite and inks, but I don't limit myself to these media, nor am I willing to classify my art into any one category. I've been creating art since I was able to hold a crayon and expect I will until I can no longer hold one steadily...although i would suspect that a shaky paintbrush could also create something of interest if bourne from my endless well of inspiration. I'm always interested in other artists works and find the melding of artists minds enthralling, so that's one reason I'm here, but also to share my Etsy and gallery news and latest images. Please stop by www.sunshinestudio.etsy.com or www.dancing-crane.com or www.smilingbuddhaboutique.com or www.gurugoods.com.

Hi, my name is Dawn I'm 37 years old and finally trying to tap into my creative side. I've been in cubicle hell for the last 15 years and had started out in teen dream retail sportswear for the first 5 years of my foraging into the real world. I like to decopage, make jewelry, make purses. I'm starting embroidery (I love sublime stitching) and different mixed media works. I want to learn how to sew on machine and knit (I'm left handed and need to find a left handed teacher, anyone out there?). I love going to Renegade craft fair though I do wish it would go back to the park. I'm right outside of the city but would rather go to Wicker Park area to shop and find inspiration than hang around by me. I am a frequent buyer on Etsy and am trying to get my butt in gear to sell the jewelry I've already made (hoping to get up and running after the New Year). Anyone who is in my neck of the woods or would like to be email buddies let me know.

Welcome to Indie, Dawn. If you don't have a sewing machine, check Joann's website. They have one on sale right now for $79, a real good buy. A bunch of stitches that could make any girl or one happy. Sewing is a lot like driving a car, just find your speed comfort zone for a beginner and watch your fingers.
I have two lefties in my house. I can't teach my youngest daughter to crochet, she's left handed. They say if you take a mirror and place the instructions in front of it it will reverse the stitches for you. I have yet to try this with my daughter. My sister taught her daughter and I still don't understand. I asked my niece to teach my daughter since they are both lefties and she said you sister taught me and you can't teach yours. Smart A..
Hurry up and get your stuff in order and together the New Year is just a few days away. Good Luck.

Thanks for the great info. I just did a total rehaul on my work room and found a bunch of jewelry that I've made so I'm defnitely going to be putting stuff up for sale on New Years day. I'll be starting a blog soon also. I have a problem with teaching myself something I know nothing about from a book. Once I know a few things I'm fine. Just need the start of one-on-one to get me into something new. There's a place in the city that not only has knitting but sewing classes as well. Now I just got to find a leftie to teach me!!

Hi! My name is Sherri and I am near New Orleans. I enjoy creating children's clothing and accessories that have a bit of a funky flair. I pretty much live in my Studio occasionally coming out for food and of course, when the family gets home. Yes, I do have other responsibilities!

HI,

My name is Mark Noll and I live in Madeira Beach, Florida. I am a full time artist currently working in wood. I just started my business Mark Noll Designs this June. Starting a business may not seem like much to most of you on here, but I have only been in the "real world" for a year this December 12th. I spent the previous 20 years in Prison.

I have a great family and would not be here without them, especially Patty, who has helped me so much both this last year and while I was inside.

You can see my work at www.MarkNollDesigns.com

I will be adding the story of my crime and my life since then to my blog when I get a chance.

I will also be adding all of my current inventory to my Etsy Shop this week (with luck).

If anyone has any suggestions or tips, I would love to hear them.

I am also new to HTML and site design, so any suggestions there would also be appreciated. I've done this on my own. As you can imagine, they don't let us on the internet in prison.

Hope to hear from you.

Mark
