How do you show off your work

I am in the process of redesigning my stall for when I am at fairs, I thought before I go spending money I would ask all you fab artists to show me piccy's or give ideas for how you display your wares.
Thanks in advance

One thing I was always told and have done is build up. Risers and propped up stands and what not.

Hi Kara!

Your jewelry is lovely! But you definitely need some height. Here's what I am in the process of making...

I had some louved doors that I took the slats out of and put chicken wire on them (picture the doors without the slats, like a big frame) You will need the industrial stapler from home Depot or Lowes. I stapled the chicken wire flat over the door and curved it around the frame part and stapled and then stapled some more. I used it too hang mosaics on but now I'm changing it a little for jewelry. Ok, now we have the chicken wire on it. Lay the doors flat on the ground and lay cotton batting on it. You can staple the edges onto the wood. Then get some PLAIN colored material (I got yards and yards of a beautiful mauve moire type material when Hancock was going out of business, my whole booth is done with it) You must have plain as a pattern will take away from the jewelry. Lay the material over the batting and bring it around the sides of the frame and a little over the back. Make sure it's tight. Staple the material over the batting. You now have a self standing 6' hight display for your necklaces, earring, bracelets etc. The chicken wire is the back for the batting and material. The batting is soft behind the material to put pins in or earring wire to hang your jewelry. If you wanted (I haven't tried this yet) you could hang a wire from one side to the other to hang your jewelry, but it still has the lovely background of the pluffy batting and material. This will draw attention to your booth, enhance your jewelry and mark your space. When you cover the doors make sure you put the chicken wire on each door separately, as well as the batting and material, so one side is still hinged to the other and it's 2 separate units. This is so you can fold it for carrying to shows. I don't have pictures of this as I am still making mine. As soon as I finish them I'll post some. I hope you understood my direction. Any questions, just ask!

Kara,
Here is a picture of my display at a craft show I did in the summer. I had a tent, which helped keep the sun off of me.I feel people like to congregate under a tent , because it gives a homey feel to the display. One of the problems with an outside show is the wind, that always blows my displays down. Mutli level displays give a good visual effect as well as a bargain basket or bin for impulse buys or kids.
