I believe that first impressions are lasting. To dress in style, and present one's self to the public in fashionable attire is important. And most of all in the working world, where you are meeting the public on a daily basis.
Do you think that the average American is dressing too sloppily?
Anyhow, women dress up your wardrobe with a beautiful silk scarf. Silk scarves will always be in fashion!
Gorgeous scarves, Klaire! I love the colors you use! I'm kind of torn on the dressing-up issue. I think its important at work to look your best, especially if you are dealing with the public. However, I do like to be able to run to the grocery store and not worry too much about what I'm wearing.
Either way, those scarves would be gorgeous to dress up an outfit!
I know what you're saying. But how long does it take to tie a silk scarf around your coat collar? Or even around the handle of your purse, or 'coach bag'--I mean you never know who'll you'll meet in the grocery store, or the mall.
Just to see what people might say, wore one to the store, and many people commented how pretty the scarf was, and where did you get it?
Yes, I agree! I can't speak for how the average American woman dresses, as I'm in Australia, but I'm constantly dismayed at how little attention the average Aussie woman pays to what she wears. They seem reluctant to 'dress up' and be noticed. Many women I know would not be caught in anything feminine, let alone a dress - they live in jeans and board shorts! I went to the Opera at the Sydney Opera House, and noticed there were not many women dressed up at all. When I go out at night, I see that young women seem to favour jeans, jeans, jeans, simply 'dressing it up' with a glittery, usually revealing top. Given the sorts of clothes I like to create, this really disappoints me about women today. I believe my clothes are an extension of my personality and character, and offer me an opportunity to play, and express myself. So what are these women saying about themselves???
Unfortunately American's seem to set the pace, and the rest of world follows--Many American women have let the bar drop when it comes to fashion awareness. Maybe that will turn around, I hope.
I think a man still admires a well dressed woman; that always seems to turn their heads!
All we can do is set the example. And, remember, a first impression, is the most lasting impression.
