I'm always curious to see the workspaces of other artists and crafters! Colors, storage, supplies... they all speak about who we are as artists. So, what does your studio look like? Is it just a small corner in the kitchen? Or do you have an entire room? How 'bout we discuss our workspaces, what we like, and "practical" stuff like storage, organization, etc.! :)

To start off, here are some pictures of my "studio" (attached). Its divided between my sewing/crafting area on one wall and then my "home office" on another wall (where I do my networking, writing, photo editing, etc! :). I'd love to have a whole room one day because right now storage for supplies is a bit of an issue! I have some supplies (trims, embroidery supplies, small notions, etc.) in the blue drawer unit (garage sale find for $5!!!), but my fabrics and larger vintage pieces that I reconstruct are in storage in the basement right now (I have a chest and dresser for that!). One thing I really need to work on is lighting (any ideas); I just don't have enough for detail work if its dark! Basically, this is unusually clean; when I'm in the middle of a project its chaos!! :)

So, show me or tell me: what does *your* space look like?

Cheers!
C.

I have a small "bedroom" in our house that I use--the main work area is painted bright lime green and is covered in little paintings on wood that I have no place to properly store when not on display
part of the room is covered in shelves filled with jars and plastic tubs that hold all of my supplies--buttons, glass nuggets, rubber stamps, shells, you name it. It is like the lab for a mad scientist with all my specimens!
but I have to get my room ready for this Sunday< i'm hosting an artist open house combined with a little pre holiday sale so my studio will be open to visitors and I want to look creative but not totally crazy, ha!

being that mine consists of a corner section of my bedroom, there's not much to it. you can get an idea of what it looks like in my article that was published in a local paper

now keep in mind that i did ' fix it up' for the paper. normally it's just all over the place and often extends to the rest of my bedroom.

oh and if you decide to read the article, you must then check out my (old, accidentally deleted :-/) blog to read what i had to say about it.

I just recently cleaned up my studio. It is a room that I share with my husband's 2 computers. Of course, I should confess, that I have also sprawled out into the guest bedroom. It has a comfy knitting chair, plus room to set up my quilting frame.

Mine won't look like that by the end of the week. It's a constant battle! But, Tigger does make the room look good even in its messiest state. =)

Mine looks like my dining room table covered in fabric with a sewing machine in the midst.

We're pretty lucky that we get our fabric delivered to us every week (we buy it from a friend of the family and he just brings by what we need, which is awesome as we don't have a lot of space to store tons of fabric).

We work in the living room usually and it's a mess. Fabric everywhere, parts of bags everywhere and the sewing machine usually gets moved around because both me and my sister use it. We do have two machines but my sister has been spending a lot of time at my grandmother's house in Chiang Mai (northern Thailand) because she is sick, so she finally took her machine up there with her. It's a pain right now if we're both fighting for the same machine :)

Studios spaces are such an important element in the creation process. When I am working (which is most of the time) my studio looks like chaos itself... it has always been like that... but, I like to clean it after I am done with a specific project... need to take a picture of the messy one, very different ;)
