I was just wondering if anybody is having any luck selling on etsy. I have signed up awhile back but havent listed anything. Other forums say yes and some say no. if not etsy where do you sell and make sales?
Hi Harold. In the jewlery category, I think you have to have an innovative product to stand out on Etsy. And top notch photos too. That's the baseline.
If you don't list every day on Etsy, then you have to promote. If you do both, then you are even better off. I only sell on Etsy and although sometimes it has been slow, I have been really pleased with how I've done. Here's my shop: Wired
i've had some good success with etsy. i've found that when i'm listing allot of items i sell more than when i'm just letting my current stock sit. i had to lower my prices a little to get more volume of sales, but overall it's been worth it.
I have only sold one thing on etsy. My shop is www.carol50.etsy.com. I signed up in Nov. Not quite sure yet. Go to google and type in handmade items website's.
This might help.
Thanks
Carol
Hi
You are right.I think if you got in at the beginning of the etsy you were better off. I hope it gets better. Go to google and type in handmade website's. There are more options out there. They say to go into the forums to promote your shop but there are complainers out there. Not sure what to do.
Thanks
Carol
I am not sure about etsy. It does seem to be more sellers than buyers. I will give it some more time. Have you ever checked out the red chat room? It is weird.
Good topic. I also just open the shop after registered an account for 2months.
Personally, I'm not sure that I can be success and have good sell here.
However, I think Etsy is the nice place where you can show things you make from heart to others.
The listing fee is not expensive and it can stay for 4 months. Nevertheless, Etsy is the starting point to link me with the others who have same interest as me @^o^@
I do agree that Etsy was easier to sell on when there were less sellers, but I am also a believer that you need to have your goods in more than one venue to be profitable. I sell my resin necklaces on etsy at http://brooooke.etsy.com and I also run a site called The Pear Project http://www.thepearproject.com where I sell my art, tin bracelets & a postcard as well as other people's goods on consignment. I love to market, sell and do the graphics so this is a great combo for me.
Hi
Is the Pear Project your own site? Do you consign on line? Here is Spokane alot of the consignment shops are gone.
There is one I might look into. I will check out your site's. Have a great day.
just thought i'd add another comment to the discussion... when i originally posted here, i'd sold 3 items on etsy.... in Oct, Nov, Dec i decided that i would list something new everyday, and relist something old, so i'd have two bumps on the searches a day. i am now up to 17 sales on etsy.... it really made a difference. when i was listing twice a day, even when i would skip a day, i was making 2-3 sales a week, which was a big jump from 1 a month. then a medical crisis intervened and i had to stop focusing on etsy, and shift my focus to home. since then, no sales. so i really believe that the visibility in search is the key. and i am in jewelry, probably the most saturated category on the site....
Thank-you I try to relist everyday but I will get busy andpost something new too. I hope your crisis is getting better. Thanks for the information I will take it to heart. Bye
Carol
