I have been making sea glass jewelry for a living for over twenty years. I started out in Rincon, Puerto Rico where I found my first piece of sea glass. Since those beginnings I have traveled the world looking for beachcombed treasures to use in my work. I have wandered the beaches of Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, The South Pacific, Central America, Puerto Rico, The Eastern Caribbean, Europe, Canada and the USA.
In addition to being a professional beachcomber I have worked extensively on ocean related environmental issues and was a board member of a Caribbean based environmental organization for many years. This work took me on many adventures throughout the Eastern Caribbean working on whaling issues mostly. I am honored to have traveled to the International Whaling Commission meetings when they were held in Grenada as part of Greenpeace's entourage. I wish I had more time to return to my environmental work. I would love to work on Central & South American rain forest issues.
I create sea glass jewelry with genuine sea glass. I am inspired by the wild and natural qualities of beach found sea glass. My jewelry is all handmade with the exception of some of the clasps. I make the ear wires, jump rings, chains and some of the clasps by hand using ancient wire working techniques. I am proud to offer a large selection of sea glass jewelry that is entirely made by hand.
The wire working methods I use have changed little since ancient times and were developed by nomadic people along the silk route who had to travel light and made amazing jewelry with simple hand tools. I love working this way I can take my "studio" anywhere. I take my time and enjoy the creation of every piece.
I just love your sea glass creations, my husband is from Puerto Rico, we went back to visit and I brought home sea glass wanting to make jewlery, but I don't know how! Duh! What do you use to drill the holes in the glass?
The artists you have pics of are amazing!!
