Edit Appearance Help!

Is anyone else have problems editing their appearance?? I can't seem to upload my photos to my template, when I tried the area that I wanted the photo to go seem to just be blank. I'm working on a Mac and am using Foxfire and I'd really like to be able to make my profile my own. So if anyone has any suggestions that would be great!
