This week has been inspiration week at AphroChic. It's been great fun for me to write about all the sites and photos that fuel my love of interior design. I have covered all my favorites:

- Beautiful photos of Ivanka Trump's chic New York apartment
- The Domino Flickr group. I am so amazed by all of the beautiful homes out there!
-The soulful homes featured at the Shootfactory
-And finally, Style Court, which is definitely my favorite blog right now

So, since I've been writing about what inspires me, it would be wonderful to hear from all of you wonderful independent designers to find out where you find your inspiration. Please share in the comments section below. It would be wonderful to hear where your inspiration comes from, and maybe I'll post a few of your favorite places on AphroChic later this month.

I look forward to hearing from you!

I'm inspired by travel photos. I know it's silly... me being a travel agent, but nothing inspires me more when I'm doing my crafts. I'm a huge fan of landscape photos because I love natural colors. Especially when the skies are really blue and the grass is really green. I like the buildings in the caribbean that are brightly painted, but have paint peeling off and blue skies and water in the background. I love the muted tones in European cities.

I'm also inspired by international crafters. People that continue the traditions of their ancestors. I like the colors and folksy feel of S. American art. I like the clean lines and minimalism of certain japanese and chinese art. I like Russian art right before they got into the abstract and during the abstract.

As for websites that inspire me: design sponge, lonely planet, apartment therapy and the blog of tim ferris.

Thank you so much for sharing Travel Turtle. I also love the buildings of the caribbean. I got married in Jamaica last year, and all the beautiful colors were so inspiring. It made me want to live there forever, and just paint, draw and commune with nature. I hope to share your inspiration with AphroChic readers next week. Be sure to visit.

wow! so many things. i get a lot of inspiration from interior design. the patterns and textures give me ideas for my invitation designs. i also am inspired by business card design. business cards designs have the best use of graphic design principles (especially layout) since there isn't a lot of room for creativity. so it forces you to push the box as much as humanly possible. i also love old album cover designs especially any design by jim flora.

Cool topic!
I really can't say what inspires me the most...but I can say the times when I am most inspired are usually in the morning...usually right after I've had my coffee. At that point, anything and everything might inspire me. Sometimes, it's when I'm walking down the street and I see something in a color that's too beautiful to ignore. Sometimes, it's someone wearing something in a new or different way. Sometimes, it's a pattern in a subway grate or netting at a fruit stand...or sometimes, it's just the overlap of different things....music and architecture, the city vibe with a beautiful piece of art. Sometimes, just sitting down to work inspires me...I might do something I don't like that much, and then work on it to the point where it inspires something new. So, it's sort of like getting inspired by a total flop. Not fun while doing, but good when I'm done.
