Hey, I have this kind of crazy idea. I found a wonderful old vintage encyclopedia today circa 1954. It has some great old pics and graphics in it. I need 2 pieces out of it for a project. It would be a waste to throw it away after that…
I am thinking of a 1 book = 100 pieces of Etsy project. Plenty of stuff in the book for mixed media, ear rings, buttons, magnets…cards…gocco, photograph the book...whatever. I use it for my project, post my item to sell and then ship the book to the next person on the list and so on till we get 100 pieces done.
The rules would be this:
1.)You must use something from the book and pass it on in 3 days...project may take you longer but you can only keep the book 3 days.
2.) You can mail it anyway you like--book rate will be cheapest but priority will be quicker. If you get stuck for postage $$ I can front it to your paypal account.
3.) You must sell the item you make on Etsy with "1 book 100 pieces" in the tag or title. Profits are yours to keep or donate to charity.
4.)You must blog or post info about the project somewhere on the web so that for the price of postage we all get potentially 100 pieces of exposure. Links to where people can buy any of the 100 pieces in someones Etsy shop are encouraged!

People suggested I split the book into pieces but I think sending the whole book gives you so many more choices...I am interested to see what people choose!
I am putting a post with more info and pics of the book up tonight here on Indiepublic…would anyone be interested?

I'm interested. Splitting the book might work, just to get around faster maybe? Either way this sounds fun!

That sounds like such a good idea! Count me in! My mind is already whirring with card possibilities!

This is a really neat project! How much do you think shipping would be for the book? You should create a blog or flickr group or a web site so everyone can go to one place to post.

Kepp me posted if this goes through

Have you tried posting this in the Etsy forums?

Oh - only thing is, is it in the public domain? You can check on this website. If it's not, there won't be much I can do with it :-(
